The Accountants Rose

The Accounting Profession is a Rose with a Lot of Thorns 🌹😲

But with all careers, you have to pick your poison. ☠

The long hours, low pay, lack of WLB… Gen Z is well aware of these thorns and casts its gaze towards other industries like Tech and investment banking.

☝️ But one thing should be pointed out. Every Rose has its Thorns.

Tech is highly competitive and had more layoffs in 2023 than any other industry. If you think the hours in public accounting are crazy, that’s nothing compared to IB.

⚖ There’s always a trade off.

If you want high pay, you’re going to have to sacrifice or grind it out in one way or another. That might come in the form of:

◽ More difficult college courses
◽ Long work hours
◽ Additional education requirements
◽ High competition
◽ Credential requirements

If you want to get paid you will have to pick your Poison.
